The Medical Gaming Society is an ongoing experiment in service towards others with the goal of helping health care workers battle burnout through gaming. It was founded by physicians who game, and who feel and acknowledge burn out,and wish to seek out ways to cure it. Systems fail us, but we believe change must come from within. We believe gaming and recreation can serve as healthy outlets for those frustrated by these failings.
The goal is simple, to provide an inclusive place for medical workers to play games, relax, connect with others, and createa community to battle burnout and help those we can along the way. We are a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to creating this space which hopefully will amplify voices that have traditionally been left out of conversations on wellness, wellbeing, and advocacy. As medical workers, we must advocate for ourselves, and as gamers, what better way to do that than by playing video games with friends and strangers on the internet. Gamification is no panacea, but it can spark ingenuity, creativity, motivation, which hopefully can create a better place for an exhausted workforce who just want to see their goals manifest by helping people the best we can.
For now, we will keep things simple. Join us Q-weekly for video games and chat. Topics, games, and platforms are all subject to change with the needs of our community. As a bonus, the Medical Gaming Society will aim to perform philanthropic work by raising awareness and cash for causes close to our hearts. We hope that this organization may serveas a refuge for any healthcare workers who may feel lost, burnt out, fatigued, or just want to hang out and join in on conversations with medical gamers on the front lines. Everyone is welcome. Let the games begin.
